While researching my book Our Earth, I made some startling discoveries about global warming and in particular, how our industry was causing many forests of the world to be cut down so that we could continue to publish millions of books a year. In 2008, I intend to make every publisher aware of the devastation we are causing the lungs of the earth by demonstrating exactly what publishing in our generation does to the environment. I have sat through countless seminars about the age of the digital book and seen a few early models of book readers which are costly and mostly unavailable. It is going to be difficult to change the reading habits of the traditional book buyer. In 2009, Murray Books will unveil the Green Book which promises to revolutionize the publishing industry. I urge every publisher on the planet to help me to change the way we produce books and by educating each other about the new ways of printing that do not require us to cut down hectares of forests each year. Remember... even though you may have documentation from your supplier stating that the paper used in your product is from a sustainable forest, this may not be the case. Several organizations have investigated this in 2007 and found that suppliers were providing false documentation. In 2008, we unveil our new lifestyle tactile books.
